本书主要收集在已出版的《林从龙诗文集》中，还散见于海内外的报刊，总数在五百首以上。更重要的是，他在诗词方面，艺术造诣高，创作态度严肃认真。其中不少佳作，脍炙人口，广为传诵。在本书中，我不可能对林从龙在诗词上的多方面贡献作出的介绍和评价，只打算写出我吟诵林从龙诗词的一点读后感，让更多的读者分享我读完诗词佳作以后的快乐。我由鉴赏诗词想到中华诗词的发展。我认为，研究林从龙的诗词，总结林从龙诗词创作的经验，有助于中华诗词的健康发展。
