In the early seventies, after the bloody and costly Six Day War, Israel finds itself involved in a new crisis. Both the Israeli and the Palestinians are suffering from severe, unexplainable and deadly gastro-intestinal disorders which, due to the lack of reliable data, they blame it on the poisoning of fresh water wells by each other.Against this potentially explosive background, Michael Travis, a popular, highly regarded trouble shooter employed by the International Health Agency in Geneva, travels to the Middle East to investigate the medical problems that are now threatening the fragile peace.
