As a result, leaders are feeling more pressure to keep everything together, which causes even more stress, frustration, and burnout. The cycle is unhealthy, and we all know that when leaders are not socially and emotionally healthy, they do not lead effectively or achieve meaningful results. This book provides leaders (and we are all leaders in some manner) with guidance, support, and hope. The 30 Day Challenge format builds upon an SEL model that has proven to be effective for over 30 years. Researchers have found that Social-Emotional Learning actually improves a variety of outcomes for both children and adults (Casel, 2020). Although research on Adult SEL is still emerging, it is promising and very relevant to the issues of stress, frustration, and burnout facing our workforce. We know that adults take their cues from their leaders. Therefore, it is necessary for those leaders to possess and exhibit strong social and emotional skills; not only for their own well-being but in order to foster social-emotional and leadership skills whenever and wherever they lead. It's time to take the challenge and grow as an individual and as a leader.
