पल्टू बाबू रोड' अमर कथाशिल्पी फनीश्वरनाथ रेणु का लघु उपन्यास है। यह उपन्यास पटना से प्रकाशित मासिक पत्रिका 'ज्योत्स्ना' के दिसंबर, 1959 से दिसंबर, 1960 के अंकों में धारावाहिक रूप से छपा था। रेणु के निधन के बाद 1979 में पुस्तकाकार प्रकाशित हुआ। नई-नई कथाभूमियो की खोज करनेवाले रेणु 'पल्टू बाबू रोड' में एक कस्बे को अपनी कथा का आधार बनाते हैं। वे कठोर, विकृत और हासोंमुख समाज को लेखकीय प्रखरता के साथ परखते है। इस उपन्यास में रेणु अपने गाँव-इलाके को छोड़कर बैरगाछी कस्बे को कथाभूमि बनाते हैं। इस कस्बे की नियति पल्टू बाबू जैसे काईयां, धूर्त, कामुक बूढ़े के हाथ में है। उसने कस्बे के लिए ऐसी राह निर्मित की है जिस पर राजनीतिज्ञ, ठेकेदार, व्यापारी, वकील (पूरे कस्बे के लोग ही) चल रहे हैं। लगता है, कस्बावासी शतरंज के मोहरे हैं और पल्टू बाबू इनके संचालक। इस उपन्यास का लक्ष्य है उच्च वर्ग के अंतर्विरोधों, उसकी गिरावट, राजनितिक और आर्थिक संबंधों में यों-व्यापर आदि का चित्रण। निम्न वर्ग छिटपुट आया है। आदर्शवादी पत्र विडम्बना से घिरे है। भाषा प्रव्पूर्ण और अर्थव्यंजक है।
