Die sprachliche Bildung und Förderung von Kindern ist seit Jahren ein Dauerthema in der Pädagogik der frühen Kindheit. Ausgelöst durch die zunehmende Anzahl an Kindern, die migrationsbedingt mit mehr als einer Sprache aufwachsen, werden neuerdings Ansätze einer mehrsprachigen Bildung in Kindertageseinrichtungen diskutiert. Ziel ist es dabei, nicht nur zu einer Weiterentwicklung im Deutschen sondern auch in den Herkunftssprachen beizutragen. Doch welches sprachpädagogische Handeln zeigt das pädagogische Personal unter den Bedingungen von Mehrsprachigkeit? Wird die Sprachenvielfalt der Kinder bei der Raumgestaltung berücksichtigt? Welche nichtdeutschsprachigen Materialien finden sich in den Kindertageseinrichtungen? Und schließlich: Lässt sich die Professionalität des bereichsspezifischen Handelns des Personals durch eine zweijährige Weiterbildung sichtbar im Kita-Alltag verändern? In der vorliegenden Studie werden Antworten auf diese Fragen gegeben. Evaluiert wird der Praxistransfer einer Weiterbildung vorwiegend anhand von Beobachtungsverfahren in 19 Einrichtungen, in 54 Gruppen und bei 130 pädagogischen Fachkräften.
