Berühmt wurde er lediglich durch einen sozialpsychologischen Kurs den er fast 30 Jahre immer wieder in ähnlicher Weise vertrat. Das vorliegende Buch soll sich mit den Grundgedanken der Interaktions- bzw. Kommunikationstheorie, wie sie von Mead entwickelt wurde, befassen. Der Schwerpunkt der Arbeit liegt auf der Klärung der wichtigsten Grundbegriffe dieser Theorie, z. B die gestenvermittelte Kommunikation, die schließlich zur Konstitution des Selbst bzw. einer Identität - nach Mead - durch „I" und „Me" führt.
