Mated to Her

All Peggy knew about love was pain and abandonment. She had been found outside like yesterday's trash abandoned by whomever gave birth to her. Her adopted family only told her that they found her on their porch with nothing but a blanket wrapping her. No note or a tag with her details. Nothing. Efforts to find out about this found baby bore no fruit as no one came forward to lay claim to her. In the back of her mind was the knowledge that she had been unwanted by the one person who should have loved her unconditionally.

Years later, she had met the "love of her life."  He, too, left her for someone else. She was so sure she could see forever in his eyes until she found Ethan in bed with her former college roommate and best friend.

How does one get over such a betrayal? Her adoptive parent, Mama ,  has recently died in a freak accident and Peggy has gone back to her old home to try to come to terms with the new state affairs. She is alone in a cozy little farmhouse near a forest and all she wants to do is curl into a ball and cry. She is at a bad place emotionally as she feels like she is broken and doesn't know how to fix the pieces of her broken heart.

But fate has something else in store for her. One rainy evening, she hears what she thinks is the howl of a dog in pain. She braves the elements and goes to see what she can do. Little does she know that her life is about to take a turn she never imagined. Not even in her wildest dreams. Can she learn to trust again?
