Die besondere, bisher kaum untersuchte Problematik dieser Ausriister betriebe war Gegenstand des Forschungsprojektes. Das engere Ziel der Un tersuchung bestand darin, den Zusammenhang zwischen den Anforderungen zu durchleuchten, die das betriebliche Sozialsystem an seine Mitglieder stellt, und den Voraussetzungen, die diese zur Bewaltigung der Anforderungen in ihren sozialen Funktionen (bzw. Arbeitsplatzen) im Betrieb benotigen. Die Vorbereitung des Forschungsvorhab~ns lief 1959 an. Die Erhebungen begannen gegen Ende des gleichen Jahres und reichten his Mitte 1960. Das Manuskript konnte ein Jahr spater abgeschlossen werden. Die Feldarbeit und die Materialauswertung trugen die Autoren gemeinsam. Die Erstellung des Manuskriptes wurde aufgeteilt, so daB selbstverstandlich jeder der Auto ren die von ihm geschriebenen Abschnitte zu vertreten hat. Wigand Siebel, der auch die Verantwortung fiir die Projektabwicklung iibemommen hatte, schrieb die Abschnitte I; III; IV; V, C; VI und VII. Hans Wilhelm Hetzler verfaBte die Abschnitte II; V,A und V,B.
