Lucien is the darkly enigmatic owner of DuPassé, an antiques shop with a bad reputation. He is handsome, impeccably dressed, and charming. But is there something else, behind his peculiar brown eyes, and his intriguing smile?
Golden haired Gabriel is young and naive, but beautifully warm and inviting. One day, he visits DuPassé, and a chance encounter with Lucien intrigues him. Something about Gabriel intrigues Lucien too, and he offers him a job.
Will Gabriel accept? And how will his protective grandmother, La Meme, feel about this, given DuPassé's reputation? People disappear from there after all, or so she says. Does La Meme know more about DuPassé than she lets on?
Elsewhere in Paris, children are disappearing, and no one knows why. The people cry for L'enfants de Paris, but their cries, fall on deaf ears. Will Marceau, their handsome prime minister, save them? Or does he have other things on his mind? Like his secretary, Carmen. Or perhaps, the mysterious Marquis and Madame Dagger, who darken his door from time to time.
There are some who think the children will never be found, like Garlon, and his friends in L'ancre, a choppy bar for villains and rogues. Does he know something the others don't?
