The self is the life force, and it is not an isolated event captured within an impenetrable physical body. The self is rather, an extensive spiritual entity that permeates each of us, and extends itself to, and through each of us, and back to our first ancestors. The circle of self has been disconnected, and we must find healing and continuity again.
