The obsidian stone with its strange steak of neon blue, hanging on a gold chain around Anna Helsdatter's neck - forged from the magma surrounding Jörmungandr's cave - serves as a reminder of the last terrible battle against an insidious evil. The day, Anna came into her full power to defeat the All Father when he sought to destroy not only her family, but also every one of the Nine Realms.
A stone which, unbeknownst to Anna - currently contending with an even greater challenge, that of being college student - hides its own secret.
Putting her past behind her and, despite contending with a family composed of the most powerful deities on Earth or in Valhalla, all Anna wants to do, is to enjoy being a normal nineteen-year-old.
Then again, things involving the Helsdatters, are anything but normal, and Anna is catapulted into another life-or-death struggle. The only problem is, this time the stakes are higher... and one wrong move could spell disaster - especially when saving Earth, might herald Valhalla's Doom.
