David Esteller Ortega nació en el Píritu, Municipio Esteller, Edo. Portuguesa, Venezuela. Se graduó de abogado en la Universidad Central de Venezuela y obtuvo el título de Doctor en Derecho en la Universidad de Carabobo, con la mayor calificación académica. Ha escrito varios libros entre los cuales se destacan: El Acto Cooperativo, Democracia y Cooperativismo, La Ciudad Medieval Factor de Importancia para el Advenimiento del Capitalismo; y tres libros de poemas y un libro de cuentos. También ha escrito numerosos artículos en varios periodicos de circulación nacional en Venezuela. Su cuento El Ladrón obtuvo mención al mérito en el Concurso del Diario El Nacional en 1960.
