Edel Romay se ha visto enriquecido por sus viajes y asociaciones con artistas e intelectuales en México, Europa, los Estados Unidos y Sudamérica (tanto en la literatura como en las artes plásticas). Y su obra -literaria y plástica- ha sido influenciada por grandes filósofos, poetas y científicos. Una Poética Breve, 1989-2004 nos invita a ver la relación que guarda el Cerebro con el Cosmos, la Palabra con el Ser, la Realidad con el Tiempo. En pocas palabras, nos hace meditar en lo que alguna vez Martin Heidegger estableciera "El lenguaje es la casa del ser." Además, Edel nos propone la idea de que "sin observador, la realidad no existe." Igualmente también, Romay nos conduce al diálogo interno del yo con el tú que se busca a sí mismo para construirse como un yo verdadero. Es decir, la simbiosis que existe entre lector y autor en una misma persona. Tú, el otro que me crea y recrea cuando me lee; porque sin un tú no hay un yo. Y viceversa. Lo cual nos hace reflexionar en lo que el poeta Octavio Paz afirmara "Los ojos hablan, las palabras miran, las miradas piensan... "
