Harold Brown suffered a heart attack at the age of eighteen due to his heavy consumption of animal products.
As a cattle farmer he didn't realize that his livelihood could cause so much damage. His extended family of farmers, the local community, youth organizations and TV were telling him one thing: Animal products are good.
Harold truly believed he was doing good work, living a good life and being a good person.
For the better part of his life he was not a conscious participant in what was happening. But deep down he felt uncomfortable with the things he was expected to do: Castrating calves, killing rabbits with his bare hands, and beating cows onto trailers.
Until the day a doctor told him to expect bypass surgery by the age of 35.
In an attempt to save his life, Harold embarked on a journey into veganism. Along the way he discovered the true meaning of compassion and found an new ethical foundation upon which to live his life.
