Triumphs In Faith

Why wasn't she waking up? It was a difficult thought to fathom for seven-year-old "Bobbie", but one she had to face as she watched her mother pass away from a chemical-assisted suicide.This was one of many challenging, and heartbreaking, moments in the early life of author Bobbie Jean McDaniel, captured in her published testimony Triumphs in Faith. Bobbie begins her story sharing events of the last fight between her parents, who had endured a volatile marriage that was tinged with alcohol and, sometimes, violent arguments. After her father stormed out of their apartment, her mother mixed, and drank, a mysterious concoction that gradually ended her life. Despite her best efforts, Bobbie wasn't able to save her mother and cried out to God for help to bring her back to life. She also longed to hear the simple words of "I love you" said from her mother's mouth: words that were never spoken to her by her mother and at times from her father, who struggled with alcoholism. Her mother's suicide set off a chain reaction of events that led to her father's false imprisonment for her death and Bobbie and her sister Marjorie, "Little Bit", being shuffled between relatives and foster care.  Bobbie continued to seek God's help during these traumatic times, praying to the One taught to her by her grandmother, Mama Lucy. These early teachings about "the Good Shepard" would leave an eternal mark on Bobbie that would only bloom into a thriving relationship with the Lord in time. Triumphs in Faith recalls in vivid details the various trials the author, her sister and her family endured over the years, but celebrates the presence of God through it all. He was able to make even painful circumstances like these into examples of His glory and love for His children.
