The Sub is a first-person narrative account of the experiences of David Munro, a Sub-Lieutenant in the Royal Navy during the First World War. The book was written by Taffrail, a pseudonym for the British naval officer and author Henry Taprell Dorling. The book is divided into two parts, the first of which covers Munro's training and his early experiences on board a submarine. Munro provides detailed descriptions of life on board a submarine, including the cramped living conditions, the dangers of diving and surfacing, and the challenges of navigating and communicating underwater. He also recounts his encounters with enemy ships and the excitement and fear of being engaged in combat. The second part of the book describes Munro's experiences as a prisoner of war after his submarine is sunk by the Germans. Munro provides a vivid account of his time in captivity, including the harsh living conditions, the psychological toll of being isolated from his fellow sailors, and his attempts to escape.Throughout the book, Munro's writing is characterized by a sense of duty and patriotism, as well as a deep respect for the bravery and sacrifice of his fellow sailors. The Sub offers a fascinating insight into the life of a submariner during the First World War, as well as a poignant reflection on the human cost of war. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
