Minister Lillian Makle Forbes is a lifelong resident of Southern Maryland. She is the fifth child of Mrs. Lillian E. Gray Makle and the late Mr. Joseph B. Makle Sr., was reared in Charles County, and attended St. Michael's Catholic Church in Baden, Maryland.Lillian began serving in ministry in 1986 as a lay servant and is currently serving as a certified lay minister in the United Methodist Church. She also serves as a volunteer chaplain at the University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center.However, one of the most defining moments in her life was when, while excitedly awaiting the birth of her second child, she was diagnosed with the chronic autoimmune disease, lupus.Though the question she always asked God was, "Why me?", she still wanted to trust His plan for her life, knowing He had a reason for all she went through with lupus.When the lupus was in remission, it was not long before it returned again, and with a vengeance.
