Protagonist Roland Lee Highmark embarks on a journey into the nightmare of his past.With great apprehension the lead character introduces the reader to his former-self. He’s been through a transformation and no longer feels connected to the character of his past. He longs to share his story as a warning to others.
The main character delivers a strong authentic narrative in an honest straight forward self revealing way. This is a love story interwoven with disaster. A tale of revenge gone wrong. The reader witnesses the main character’s decent into an uncontrollable whirlwind of catastrophe, and its eventual resolution. The escape artist doesn’t end up in happily-ever-after-land. He does however find himself free from the inner demons that drove him to personal tragedy.
Story also carries a message of redemption, but not from the perspective of “goodie two shoes gets enlightened.” Through the lead character’s eyes, the reader experiences the apocalyptic repercussions and aftermath of a life altering event.
In addition, this narrative chronicles an original interesting twist to a courtroom scene. Content also reveals meaningful insight into the self-destructive nature of the alcoholic mind.
Subject matter also imparts the repeated theme of coincidence. This is no accident. These coincidences are a part of a subtle guiding force that opens the reader to a greater reality.
The story also has a metaphysical ending—metaphysical in the sense that it defies rational explanation.
