Remember THAT girl from your youth? The Enchantress; The Mermaid. The Muse. You couldn't stop thinking about her; all day, and all night. Maybe you were a straight-A student, right up until 11th and 12th grade. And in the 4 classes She was in with you, your grades dropped significantly. Because she made it hard. Hard to study anything but her. Hard to concentrate. Hard to think. She just made it hard.For me, it was Layla. The Pom-Pom girl; the Cheerleader; the Homecoming Queen. Invading my dreams at night, and staring in a different fantasy every day. For decades, now. Sometimes, I wrote these fantasies down. The things that happened to Layla in my mind were not always nice. Certainly a consequence of my frustration at her being out-of-my-league, and not through any fault of her own, as she was never anything but sweet to me.
