The Dark Path to Light is a result of loss. Loss in my life and that of people I love and care for. We all deal with it differently. Some of us better than others. That is not to say that this collection is better than anyone else's methods. It is to say that it is my way of dealing with the loss. The publication of this collection honors loss as a whole and recognizes that dark patch of moment that we all experience from time to time.
We all should recognize that we couldn't be in light if there wasn't darkness on the other side. It is my hope that some of these poems highlight that too. Sometimes the light can be hard to find, so we get to grab it where we can and provide it to everyone when we get the chance. That's what DJ did and that's why the dedication is to him.
"Still, I hurt though I know that God loves me too and his will is the way and the light.
But, I'm human; and God, I must let you know: though I love you, I hate you tonight."
