However, in 1827 at the New Lebanon Convention, two prominent revival leaders, Charles G. Finney and Asahel Nettleton, came into conflict with each other concerning the new measures. What led them to have different views on the New Measures? This book examines the formative impact of their understanding religious experience in order to provide a deeper understanding of the different views on revivals. This study should help understand the subtle but provocative issue of experience and their respective application to biblical interpretation and practical revival efforts, and should be useful to those who are interested in Christian faith, experience, and revival movements.
