The Art of Voiding Dysfunction (LUTS) is a book designed to assist providers in becoming experts in diagnosing and managing patients with lower urinary tract symptoms. Having co-authored Urodynamics Made Easy with Professor Chris Chapple, Dr. Scott MacDiarmid's long-time career goal is to teach the art of urodynamics and how to use the test in clinical practice. Those who understand and master the contents of this book, when combined with surgical skill, will be an expert in voiding dysfunction. 

The Art of LUTS is constructed as a series of modules that bridge symptoms and signs, objective findings, diagnosis and treatment supported by literature-based guidelines, expert opinion, and personal experience. It emphasizes the importance of a detailed history and physical examination, which combined with urodynamics and other testing, is an excellent way to establish the diagnosis and prescribe effective treatment pathways. Urodynamics also equips providers to better counsel their patients, set realistic expectations, and to trouble-shoot when necessary.

The book is written for general urologists, gynecologists, advanced practice providers, urodynamic nurses, and those fellowship trained or sub-specialized in voiding dysfunction. The goal of the book is to encourage providers to enjoy their journey delivering excellent care to this often challenging population of patients.
