Alicia Givens is a beautiful, full-figured 23 year old woman with an amazing voice. She sings like an angel. She's on her way to try and make it as a singer. Her friend, Shaunice Weathersby, has been her best friend since elementary school. Alicia feels she's always been the 'big girl' with the bubbly personality, yet she still has a few self esteem issues. She settles for guys who basically play around with her feelings until she finally gets tired of the game.
Shaunice wants Alicia to find someone who values her and not Maurice Gibbs, who Alicia has been seeing. Alicia understands that Shaunice doesn't like Maurice, but Alicia feels she owes him a lot due to the fact that he has been trying to get her singing career off the ground as her manager as well as her boyfriend. Shaunice thinks Maurice is complete trash.
