Bonnie Kaye, M.Ed. is an internationally acclaimed counseling expert and author in the field of straight/gay marriages. It is estimated in the United States that there are over four million women who unknowingly married a gay man. She works with women from their initial discovery about their husbands' homosexuality throughout their recovery through her writings, radio shows, and support network. As with her previous two Straight Wives, Shattered Lives anthologies released in 2006 and 2010, in this new book women from around the world tell their stories of how they married a man out of love and hope only to find that their lives became shattered after learning why their marriages were filled with abuse, lies, and confusion - namely the homosexuality of their husbands who felt "trapped" in the marriages that they created. These straight-gay marriages - or what Kaye calls Mis-Marriages or mistakes in a marriage - leave long-term damage of straight wives for years to come. Kaye helps women learn why this happens and focuses on how to rebuild their lives.

This third volume to the collection also focuses on how our society's current attitudes of praising gay men who find their "authentic selves" after long-term marriages affects the women living through this nightmare. These stories are heartbreaking when you learn about the cruelty each woman suffered. And yet, each one of them had the strength to share their experiences in the hope of making a connection to help others on this journey.
