Sheol County Blues

Two former foster sisters are reunited in a Psych Ward, each on the opposite side of the clipboard. One is a Psych tech trying desperately to hold on to life and the other is a patient who has just survived a self-inflicted close encounter with death.
Skye, the Psych tech, is a cynical, hardened incest survivor, tormented by the ghost of her perpetrator and unable to endure human touch. She finds her life in free fall when she discovers that her long absent, abusive mother is in need of hospice care.
Geena, the patient, is a self-destructive, promiscuous, incest survivor, who barely survives her latest self-mutilation fest. She is desperate to renew her friendship with Skye, her foster sister.
Shoel County Blues chronicles the healing power of their friendship. It explores the lives of two victim of incest, the psychological violence perpetrated against them, and the resilient ability of the human spirit to survive, heal, adapt, find love, and create friends and new family.

The cast of characters are a fictionalized composite of the people the author counseled as a Crisis Counselor for sex abuse victims and as a Behavioral Health Therapist for hospitalized psychiatric patients. It is her intention that Sheol County Blues goes beyond the popular beliefs and stereotypes of child molestation victims to celebrate the day-to-day struggles and triumphs of their lives.
