Nach den Empfehlungen der International Planned Parenthood Federation sollte eine zeitgemäße Sexualpädagogik stets darum bemüht sein, im Rahmen sexueller Aufklärung und Bildung möglichst alle maßgeblichen Lebensräume von Jugendlichen einzubeziehen. In den letzten Jahren ist durch die Sozialen Online-Netzwerke ein neues, virtuelles Terrain entstanden, das besonders unter Jugendlichen immer mehr in den Fokus ihrer Aufmerksamkeit gerückt und mittlerweile ein integraler Bestandteil ihrer Lebenswelten geworden ist. Dabei ist von besonderer Bedeutung, dass Jugendliche das Internet als interaktives Web 2.0 nicht nur als Konsumenten, sondern auch als Produzenten zur Selbstpräsentation verwenden, die einen essenziellen Bestandteil ihrer individuellen Identitätsentwicklung ausmacht. Diese Entwicklung stellt die gegenwärtige Sexualpädagogik konsequenterweise vor die Aufgabe, Jugendliche auch im Kontext von Sozialen Online-Netzwerken in ihrer sexuellen Identitätsentwicklung zu unterstützen.Diese Arbeit möchte zunächst ein differenziertes Verständnis für die Bedeutung von Sozialen Online-Netzwerken auf dem Gebiet jugendlicher Sexualentwicklung vermitteln. Darauf aufbauend wird skizziert, wie eine zeitgemäße Sexualpädagogik aussehen kann, die Soziale Online-Netzwerke nicht nur als einen weiteren Kommunikationskanal zur Information und Beratung Jugendlicher nutzt, sondern darüber hinaus vor allem auch Jugendliche in ihrem sexuellen Sozialisationsprozess im Web 2.0 exemplarisch beratend begleitet.
