The story of two young lovers was used to set the scene and make a point about the theme of this book. They experienced a heartbreak resulting from love frustrated by discrimination, stigma and taboos from a people's culture. It later became the great joy of love consummated, when the young man and his previously rejected, traumatized, outcast girlfriend were joined in a holy wedlock, to the admiration of those who despised their relationship originally. In the heat of the frustration, an event occurred that turned things around, making the young man to resolve to marry, at all costs, the one he loved. The said event offered medical science the opportunity to disprove the ancient, traditional beliefs that held people back from the truth.
Going further, the author presented well-reasoned arguments from history, sociology, and the bible that provided undisputable grounds on which to discard that obnoxious practice which is incompatible with the present day! Although the story focused on the outcast system, the principles advocated in this book towards its abolition also apply to the efforts aimed at the abolition of all other forms of discrimination and human rights abuses, including when "I can't breathe!" is heard under an oppressor.
