In der Öffentlichkeit herrscht der Eindruck vor, die Evolutionstheorie mache den Schöpfer-Gott überflüssig: Hat sich der Kosmos, die Erde, das Leben aus kleinsten Anfängen gesetzmäßig entwickelt, bedürfe es keines Schöpfers - der sich gesetzmäßig seit Ewigkeiten entwickelnde Weltstoff übernehme ja die Funktionen des alten Schöpfers. Die Schöpfungserzählungen der Bibel werden als vorwissenschaftliche Hypothesen beiseitegelegt. Es könnte aber sein, dass der biblische Text Einsichten enthält und eine Weisheit bewahrt, die jenen verborgen ist, die sich der Welt bloß analysierend, messend, rechnend nähern.
