En medio del llamado "Período Especial" llega a la Capital cubana un alicantino cuyo objetivo primario es indagar sobre un tío abuelo que emigró de España a raíz de la culminación de la Guerra Civil y del cual solo se tuvo noticias por una solitaria carta fechada casi cincuenta años atrás. La búsqueda de las huellas de sus parientes, el romance que lo sorprende arrastrándolo al margen de sus propias proyecciones y la manera impactante como se desenvuelve la historia en medio de una Cuba distorsionada socialmente, conforman un relato apasionante donde se destaca la idiosincrasia de un pueblo muy especial.
