Royal Exile

The first book in an extraordinary epic fantasy saga from the million-copy bestselling author.

From the eastern steppes rides Loethar, a ruthless warlord who has united the barbarian tribes into an unstoppable tide. Kingdom after kingdom has fallen before him. Now only one realm stands unconquered: Penraven, the greatest kingdom of the Denova Set.

Loethar seeks more than wealth or conquest. He covets the Valisar Enchantment - a legendary power of coercion bound to Penraven's royal bloodline. When the last Valisar dies, that power will be his, and no force will remain to oppose him.

As siege closes in, the king of Penraven makes a desperate choice, sending his untested son, Crown Prince Leonel, into hiding with a single protector. Hunted by brutality and betrayal, Leonel must survive long enough to claim a throne - or watch the world fall to tyranny.
