Obwohl diese Technik alles andere als neu ist, fand der große Durchbruch erst in den vergangenen 10 bis 15 Jahren statt. Diese Arbeit stellt die Grundlagen von RFID vor, beleuchtet die gegenwärtig wichtigsten Einsatzzwecke mit ihren Kosten und Nutzen und stellt auch die am häufigsten vorgebrachten Bedenkengegen RFID zur Diskussion. Abschließend wird ein Ausblick auf dieweitere Entwicklung und die Faktoren die den Einsatz derzeit hemmen, gewagt.
