Prosodische Phänomene wurden in der Dolmetschforschung lange Zeit vernachlässigt, obwohl ihre Bedeutung für die mündliche Sprachproduktion bereits in sehr frühen Arbeiten zum Dolmetschen zum Ausdruck kam. Neben kommunikations-, translations- und dolmetschwissenschaftlichen Grundlagen bildet die Prosodieforschung den Ausgangspunkt für die Untersuchung eines authentischen Korpus professioneller Dolmetschleistungen im Sprachenpaar Englisch-Deutsch. Unter Berücksichtigung der spezifischen Bedingungen der Sprachrezeption und -produktion beim Simultandolmetschen und unter Anwendung eines Analyseansatzes, der sich an den wesentlichen Aufgaben der Prosodie orientiert, werden die prosodischen Besonderheiten dieser simultan gedolmetschten Texte analysiert.
