Description
A stunning foil-stamped hardback cover makes this edition of Maurice Gee's classic novel a must have for any serious collector's library.
Long regarded as one of the finest novels ever written by a New Zealander, and introducing one of its most memorable characters, Plumb is the multigenerational story of an intolerant, irascible clergyman. Half saint, half monster - superhuman in his spiritual strength yet destructive in his utter self-absorption - George Plumb's force of conviction leads him into inevitable conflict with both family and authority.
What personal price is this man prepared to pay in the pursuit of his conscience? And what will be the consequences for those he loves?
Winner: Goodman Fielder Wattie Book Awards NZ, New Zealand Book Awards, James Tait Black Memorial Prize UK
