In dieser wissenschaftlichen Arbeit wird der Fokus auf das Förderprogramm Plattform Industrie 4.0 gesetzt. Die Hauptaufgaben der Plattform sind das Vorschlagen von Handlungsempfehlungen für alle Beteiligten der Industrie und die Verbreitung von Wissen. Die Handlungsempfehlungen unterstützen die kontrollierte Entwicklung, an denen sich die Akteure der Industrie in ihren Aktivitäten orientieren können. Ein konkretes Beispiel einer Empfehlung ist das Referenzarchitekturmodell Industrie 4.0 (RAMI 4.0). An diesemModell können sich Unternehmen orientieren damit sie den Aufbau und das Zusammenspiel der wichtigen Komponenten der Industrie 4.0 optimal zu integrieren. Ob die sämtlichen Aktivitäten der Plattform jedoch die Entwicklung der Industrie 4.0 in Deutschland sinnvoll begünstigen, ist nicht auf den ersten Anhieb zu erkennen. Das Ziel dieser wissenschaftlichen Arbeit ist die Evaluation der Sinnhaftigkeit dieses Förderprogramms hinsichtlich der Kompatibilität mit der Wirtschafts- und Technologiepolitik und der Förderung der Industrie 4.0.
