Nederlandse ‘Plastic Fantastic’ krijgt internationale lancering
Het Nederlandse kinderboek Plastic Fantastic gaat internationaal. De uitgave (8+) van Lorena Veldhuijzen kent niet alleen een bijzonder verhaal dat momenteel ook in het echte leven het uur der waarheid beleeft; Plastic Fantastic beleeft eveneens een unieke lancering. Het is het eerste boek dat vanaf 10 september via een internationaal platform de wereld van dyslexie gaat bestormen.
Plastic Fantastic dat zowel in het Nederlands als in het Engels gepubliceerd wordt, verschijnt niet alleen op Amazon en Bol.com. Het boek dat de actuele onderwerpen als de plastic soep en authenticiteit op humoristische wijze aansnijdt, is vanaf 10 september beschikbaar op het wereldwijde platform van het inmiddels internationaal gewaardeerde Font Dyslexie.
Hiermee is de Noord-Hollandse schrijfster die in 2012 debuteerde met een bestseller in het lettertype, tevens de eerste uitgever die van dit nieuwe platform gebruik maakt. Plastic Fantastic gaat over Zero, een inktvis zonder armen. Samen met Hero, een lekkerbek die is ontsnapt uit de frituurpan van een cruiseschip, reist hij af naar Plastic Fantastic. Zero, die tot nu toe doelloos ronddobberde, wil zich daar op aanraden van Hero acht nieuwe armen aanmeten. Dat hij met deze armen het probleem van de plastic soep oplost, heeft een groot raakvlak met de uitvinding van Nederlandse ‘oceaanredder’ Boyan Slat die op afgelopen zaterdag in San Francisco met de Ocean Clean Up zijn ‘première’ beleeft.
Het boek snijdt naast dit actuele thema een ander -in de ogen van de schrijfster- belangrijk thema aan en dat is authenticiteit. Plastic Fantastic is dan ook een gelaagd kinderboek dat met humor en zonder wijsvinger een aantal eigentijdse onderwerpen aanraakt.
Toen zij jaren geleden dit boekje schreef kon zij niet vermoeden dat er een initiatief zou komen om de plastic problematiek in de oceanen daadwerkelijk aan te pakken.
