Zudemgehört sie mit zu den am tiefsten durchdrungenen Disziplinen der iberoame-rikanischenLinguistik. Als Wissenschaft von den Sprachlauten hat die Phonetik bereits zu Beginn des 20.Jahrhunderts mit wichtigen Arbeiten dazu beigetragen, dass allge-meine Überlegungen zumLateinamerikanischen angestellt wurden (Kubarth 1987: 23).Mit der Phonetik eng verbunden ist die Phonologie, welche in der LinguistikLateinamerikas ebenfalls eine wichtige Rolle spielt. Dabei handelt es sich um einesprachwissenschaftliche Disziplin, die sich mit der Erforschung der bedeutungsunterscheidendenFunktion der Sprachlaute, also mit dem Sprachsystem, befasst. Sie ist daher aufdie Phonetik angewiesen. Dies zeigt sich besonders gut am Beispiel der LinguistikLateinamerikas, wo alle phonologischen Untersuchungen (u.a. zur Laut-struktur oder zurErstellung des Phoneminventars und Varianten) auf älteren Studien der Phonetik fußen.Durch diese gegenseitige Abhängigkeit lassen sich beide Disziplinen auch nur schwervoneinander abgrenzen (Kubarth 1987: 23). Dies gilt auch für die Pho-nologie und PhonetikPerus. Desweiteren gibt es zu Perus Sprachsystem und Lautstand nur sehr wenigFachliteratur, die zudem 20-30 Jahre alt ist und sich auf noch ältere Erhebungen aus densechziger und siebziger Jahren des letzten Jahrhunderts stützt.
