Innerhalb der Einleitung wird der Ursprungsmythos beschrieben, gefolgt von einem kurzen Abriss der zetilichen Entwicklung des Mythos von der Antike bis ins 20. Jahrhundert. Im Hauptteil findet die Rezeption statt. Innerhalb derer wird die Funktion des Mythos bei den einzelnen Autoren beschrieben und dadurch auf den Mythos in der Moderne eingegangen. Das Fazit fasst die gewonnenen Erkenntnisse zusammen.
