The characters are made up to suit the fictional aspect of the story. It is a novel with a focus on dominance and control as well as greed and deception. It revealed a major concern about self-centeredness and how inaction and devotion could be mistaken for stupidity. It's about a young couple (main characters) diverging perspectives on life, stemming from their different childhood experiences. Annabel's outrageous tolerance stems from her past. She yearns for that stability that surrounded her as a child, so, on she stayed.

In the end she portrays also the resilience of one woman's eventually stands for justice to defend her honor- A journey of self-discovery and freedom.

Through the novel, the author found ways to reach out to the young and inspire those who seek to break free and focus on a new dawn.
