The advancement of health care in impoverished regions in the world is a major task in the 21st century. This substantial responsibility cannot be undertaken by one entity alone. Nonprofit organizations and pharmaceutical companies have complementary skills and obstacles and, by forming partnerships, they have a significant potential to improve the public health situation in developing countries. This book analyzes these two crucial players in international public health. The author Anne Neumann subdivides those health collaborations in Operational and R&D Nonprofit-Private Partnerships and explains their characteristics. Having analyzed current partnerships, the book describes the reasons for collaboration, discusses current practices, and gives recommendations on how to improve upon the status quo.
