In Rekurs auf die antike Diätik hat schon Friedrich Nietzsche gegen Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts nach einer "Ästhetik der Existenz" ausschau gehalten, und sein Geist fand sich rund hundert Jahre später bei Michel Foucault auf erstaunlicher Art und Weise wieder. Die Arbeit sucht nach Parallelen der beiden postmodernen Denker und versucht die Art dieser Lebensphilosophie vor dem Hintergrund der gegenwärtigen Gesellschaftsverhältnisse zu durchleuchten.
