In der vorliegenden Arbeit soll anhand ausgesuchter Orte die Frage geklärt werden, inwieweit sich die steigenden Touristenzahlen negativ auf Island auswirken.Die mit 103.001 km² größte Vulkaninsel der Erde liegt im Nordatlantik knapp unterhalb des Polarkreises am Rande der bewohnbaren Welt. Vor 20 Millionen Jahren aus unvorstellbaren Explosionen, Feuer und Rauch entstanden, ist sie das jüngste Land der Erde. Noch heute kann man ihr beim Entstehen zusehen. Ihre Landschaft wird noch immer neu geformt durch Feuer und Eis und bietet daher einzigartige Naturerlebnisse.
