Author Jackie Dobrosky sees her life like a trek through the rockiest of mountains. Facing a lifetime of obstacles, she has climbed over the most difficult landscapes to reach her destination.
Surviving a childhood rooted in instability and abuse, she moved away from home only to face greater challenges in marriage and motherhood, including the discovery of a rare congenital tumor disease in her daughter, Linda. From that moment on Jackie’s life became a blur of hospital stays and surgeries, including the amputation of Linda’s leg, and an onslaught of medical issues that continue to this day.
On a family cruise that Jackie designed to celebrate her daughter’s life, Jackie broke her fibula in a zip lining accident which ironically led doctors to discover an aortic aneurysm in her heart.
The trouble didn’t stop there.
Open heart surgery led to numerous complications including a brain bleed and a brush with death.
Jackie now stands at the top of her metaphorical mountain, looking back at the difficult landscapes she navigated. These difficulties have not slowed her down. She now feels a calling to share her stories with others who struggle.
