Dabei wird eine Erhebung bei Studierenden des ersten Studienjahres durchgeführt. Als motivationssteigernde Mittel werden die Themengebiete der Gamification und des Nudge mit dem Lernverhalten in Verbindung gebracht.Im September 2018 erschien der neue Bildungsbericht "Bildung in Deutschland 2018". Inhaltlich lag der Fokus hier auf äußeren Einflüssen wie dem Bildungspersonal oder dem Bildungsstand in der Familie. Trotz negativer Faktoren war in dem Bildungsbericht 2018 eine positive Leistungsentwicklung im Sekundarbereich zu erkennen, sodass in den letzten Jahren ein kontinuierlicher Kompetenzzuwachs zu verzeichnen war. Dies führte wiederum dazu, dass Schüler in Deutschland über dem OECD-Durchschnitt liegen. Inhaltlich fiel auf, dass im Rahmen des Bildungsberichts lediglich äußere Umstände bemessen wurden. Der Faktor der Motivation beziehungsweise der Motivationsgrad der Schüler bezüglich des Lernens fand keine Stellungnahme.
