The carnival sounds of the crowd flooded into Makeo’s ears. The only thing louder was the rumble of paws-on-turf mixed with the heavy panting of the large running dogs he was surrounded by. Underneath him was his great companion, the famous black and white Great Dane known as Run. The pair had been riding together for longer than Makeo could remember and were considered almost royalty in the city of Canatopia and its surrounding lands.
Away from the track Makeo was a wise and kind chimpanzee, but he and Run trained hard and out there on race day he was fiercely competitive. Their hard work paid off. He and Run had become masters of the one thing which meant as much to the population as the environment itself. Dog racing. And the race they treasured the most they had never won.
Would today finally break the drought?........................
These races highlighted the strong connection between the highly intelligent monkeys and their best friends on Iconis, dogs. This bond had existed for a very long time, but it was the genesis of dog racing which enabled all the creatures of the planet to gain self-respect and to appreciate each other
After a tragic accident where the great Makeo is seriously injured, his beloved dog flees believing his mistake had killed his master and longest friend. It is left in the hands of Makeos’ daughter Bombay to track down her absent Koby who now lived far above the city in the tree top canopies. The mantle is passed to the reluctant chimpanzee Koby and his best friend to find the Great Dane and save him from unspeakable dangers. The journey through dark forests, mountains tops, jagged cliffs and snow caps is only made more deadly with the treacherous Mr Deon using his evil tools to stop the mission. Fire bats and Sea Beasts await the brave souls as the quest for Koby to find his family dog, Run, and return to protect the planet and all at stands for the only way possible, to win the Monkey Cup.
This tale of love, loss, friendship, anti-bullying, courage and the spirit to say enough is enough. This story will make you laugh and cry, but most of all it will make you think about how we treat our planet. We need to respect this amazing rock we live on and the incredible animals and wildlife we share it with. Our animals need to be honoured and treasured as the noble and wonderful things they are.
