Mindfulness and Relaxation Activities for All Ages
Description
This practical guide to mindfulness activities provides ready-to-use scripts that readers can use to deliver calming, soothing and grounding activities to young people of all ages, including adults.
This book showcases evidence-based scripts for activities to develop relaxation, mindfulness, self-compassion, self-awareness and resilience in people of all ages. It aims to prompt the creative development of support activities that bring forward positive well-being responses. It provides over 60 ready-to-present activity scripts and includes visualisations, movement and stillness games and meditations and recommendations for creative expression to integrate and understand the experiences. The chapters indicate the age range for whom the activities are designed. Chapter 2 provides activities that prepare participants for engagement in the activities. Chapters 3 and 4 focus on activities for younger people, Chapter 5 is designed for young adolescents and the activities in Chapter 6 are designed for presenting to older adolescents, as well as adults. Through this book, readers will be able to apply age-appropriate activities that can lead participants of all ages to improved clarity, focus, calmness and an enhanced positive sense of self.
Written by a leading professional with four decades’ experience in clinical counselling, university teaching and creative arts therapies, this is an essential child- and adolescent-friendly resource that includes activities for adults to participate in, and can be used by counsellors, psychologists, mental health professionals, educators, parents and all those who provide well-being care for people of all ages.
