Middlemarch (Collector's Edition) (Laminated Hardback with Jacket)
Description
~ Collector's Edition ~ Laminated Hardback with Jacket ~
In a town simmering with secrets and ambition, lives collide in unexpected and transformative ways. Dorothea Brooke, a passionate dreamer trapped by convention, and Dr. Tertius Lydgate, a bold idealist with wavering resolve, stand at the heart of this intricate web. Around them, power struggles, forbidden love, and moral dilemmas ripple through Middlemarch, exposing the fragile balance of human connection. With sharp insight and rich emotion, the story unveils the triumphs and failures that shape a community-and the individuals within it.
Middlemarch is celebrated as one of the greatest novels in English literature, offering a profound exploration of 19th-century social, political, and gender dynamics. George Eliot masterfully captures the transformation of provincial life during a period of rapid industrial and scientific progress, highlighting the struggles of individuals caught between tradition and change. Its complex characters and interwoven narratives delve into universal themes of ambition, morality, and human connection, making the novel timeless. Through its rich detail and psychological depth, Middlemarch stands as a groundbreaking work that reshaped the scope and ambition of the realist novel.
