Each heart is alike in that it performs certain functions: falls, thunders, stutters, pounds, skips, flutters, thuds, and eventually... stops.  

What it also does incredibly well is heal. 

Or so my court-appointed therapist tells me. I have yet to believe her.

I lost my husband recently. It was sudden. Completely out of the blue. I'm depressed. Broken. But the holidays are coming up and I'm doing my best to put on a brave face. When I arrive at my best friend's holiday party, I'm reintroduced to Liam, who just lost his wife. 

He's back in town to be closer to his family and he's sleeping on a futon at his brother's house. And I have a bunch of bedrooms that aren't being used. It's not a big deal to offer him a space to rent in my home. Right?
