Natalie Patterson is a 23-year-old university graduate living in Australia. She has just broken up with Amir, her boyfriend of four years. Amir is an obsessive, controlling bully who is making Natalie's life a living hell, and she longs to get as far away from him as possible. He is one of the reasons she is looking for employment in the United States
J. Pelham Campbell is a partner at the marketing firm of Mason, Campbell, Alvarado, & Jürgen, LLP, the company where Natalie hopes to land an internship. He is traveling to Australia for a month on business and has been tasked with assessing Natalie as an intern candidate for the firm.
In spite of a ten-year age difference, there is an immediate attraction between them. But as they spend more time together, Pelham is plunged into the world of cyberstalking from Amir's attempts to win Natalie back. Pelham is also falling for Natalie, creating multiple complications for them both.
When Natalie is accepted into the internship program, she is thrilled to be moving to America, where she hopes to start a new life with Pelham.
