Un cuento inspirado en la Mitología griega. La princesa Nereida hija del rey Midas conoce en el bosque a un hermoso joven llamado Orión que resulta ser un príncipe hijo del dios Helios. Orión queda inmediatamente prendado de la belleza de Nereida, pero ella ha prometido no confiar nunca en un hombre por lo malo que fue con ella su padre. Entonces le promete que será suya si le gana en una carrera por el bosque. Preocupado por la dificultad de la prueba, Orión pide ayuda a su tía Afrodita y siguiendo su consejo roba una manzana de oro del jardín de las Hespérides y la arroja al paso de Nereida, que al parar para recogerla pierde la carrera. Pero, arrepentido por haber usado ese truco, y como observa que Nereida está triste y aún no se fía de él, le demuestra su amor ofreciéndose para someterse a una nueva y peligrosa prueba y así darle otra oportunidad a ella de ganar.El sorprendente desenlace de la historia nos lleva nada menos que a las pirámides de Egipto y acaba iluminando el mismísimo el firmamento.
