Migrating from place to place is a fact of life for many in today's world. Globalization and increased interdependence privilege some people to emigrate to work, study and get new experiences in different parts of the globe. The children of these mobile families are called 'third culture kids' (TCKs). This book aims to find out how a multicultural childhood affects one's sense of place. The study asks what is 'place for' (meaning of place) and 'place of' (question of belonging) adult third culture kids. Also the relationship between place and mobility, as well as place and memory, are discussed. The empirical material consists of place memories of Finnish adult third culture kids.The book is useful for parents and children of mobile families, staff of international organizations and companies, Geographers and Socio­logists as well as anyone interested in the concept of place in a mobile world.
